Our Valentine Poetry Pack was such a hit this past week at our house. Even my 3rd grader asked to join in the fun. 🙂
Included in the free pack {download found at the end of this post} is original poetry and clip art drawn by my son plus writing, rhyming, and spelling activities you can do with the poem. While I created these packs primarily for K-2nd grade, older and/or younger kids may also enjoy them.

Valentine Poetry Pack
Here are a few snapshots of our poetry pack from this past week.
One of our favorite activities of the week was drawing mental images from the poem. This is where my 3rd grader really got into it.
NJoy’s drawings of the 1st and 2nd stanzas
ALuv’s mental images and writing. I had no problem with my 3rd grader wanting to join in the fun, but I added the component of writing about his mental image so it was more in his level. 🙂
building the poem on the pocket chart
finding, sorting, and spelling rhyming words
changing out the words in them poem from our rhyming word cards {this always brings smiles}
One of the last things he does for the week is re-read, cut and glue down the poem.
