I’m so excited to share our Christmas Poetry Pack {FREE download at the end of this post} with you today! It’s FREE, and is one of many including our Back to School Pack, Apple Pack, Fall Leaves Pack, Pumpkin Pack, and Thanksgiving Pack. These packs are most appropriate for K-2nd grade, but preschoolers may also enjoy them with a little extra help.

This past week, my Kindergartner greatly enjoyed our Christmas Poetry Pack. Below is an image of the full poem:
We had great comprehension discussions around the end of the poem. “What do you think the child was going to do when (s)he picked up the present?”, “What does the … mean?” and “How do you think the boy/girl knew the present wasn’t for him/her?”
He decided that when the character picked up the present, he could see that there was someone else’s name on the tag. When it was time to draw his mental images, he drew a picture of the present and it was labeled for “MOM”. {That green looking thing is our Larry the Cucumber ornament.}
He also enjoyed sorting and then writing rhyming words based on the Christmas poetry.
One of his favorite activities to do is inserting random rhyming words back into the poem to make it silly. He giggled his way through this one. 🙂
