Poetry is SO good for readers of all ages. The rhyme. The rhythm. The humor. The imagery. The figurative language. There’s so much good stuff packed into such little text. Good poetry is a teacher’s dream because you can teach so many things from it. I used poetry a lot in the classroom, as a reading tutor and now, as a homeschooling mom.

Today, I’m sharing our newest poetry pack, our Winter Poetry Pack {free download link is at the end of this post}! If you’re not familiar with these packs, you’ll find original poetry {by me} with clip art drawn by my 3rd grader. Each pack has a seasonal poem with activities that work on reading comprehension, rhyming, writing,Β and spelling!
Here is a list of all the Poetry Packs we have so far:
- Back to School Poetry Pack
- Apple Poetry Pack
- Fall Leaves Poetry Pack
- Pumpkin Poetry Pack
- Thanksgiving Poetry Pack
- Christmas Poetry Pack
Winter Poetry Pack
These packs are designed for kids who are in K through 2nd grades, but older readers may like them, too {my 3rd grader, ALuv, does}.
He joined us this week in many of the activities, including drawing and writing rhyming words, which they both did from their lap desks.
NJoy’s {Kindergarten} favorite activity, by far, this week was reading the poem in the pocket chart and replacing the original words with silly rhyming words and then re-reading the poem.
My favorite activity from the week was discussing our mental images of the poem on day one. It took NJoy a while to “get” this one, but when the light bulb came one, he was giggling up a storm. π
And don’t forget, in each pack, there’s a pack of FREE Poetry Activity Cards, great for extending ANY poem at home or in the classroom!

The download link seems to be broken.
Thanks for letting me know. The link color changed with my web re-design, making it hard to see the link. I’ve fixed it so all the words will link to the printable. If you come across any other posts with download links like this, be sure to click on the word “HERE” in the download sentence. I’m working to fix all of these. π
I love this! i followed links to the earlier poetry packs but I cannot download them. Would love them if they are still available. I teach k-2 ESL.
Thank you!
Yes! Those are older posts that don’t have the teal download button. I know it’s confusing and I’m in the process of fixing them all. π Towards the bottom of each post, you’ll see something like, “Download this pack HERE.” Make sure you click on “HERE.”
