Oversized Letter Cards for Spelling

By thisreadingmama 24 Comments

These oversized letter cards are a fun way to have learners move as they practice spelling.

Just give learners an oversized letter card and let them line up as they spell phonics or sight words.

Oversized Letter Cards for Spelling

Included in this pack are half-page oversized letter cards from a to z for print font AND slant or manuscript font. Letters are included in just blackline and there’s also the option to print the vowels in red. Letters are large enough so they can be seen clearly from across the room.

To make them durable and re-usable, I highly recommend printing them on cardstock and laminating them.

oversized letter cards with base line included

I included a base line under each letter so that learners can clearly see letters that are tall and letters that have “tails.” The line can also help with holding the card right-side up for letters like b, d, p, q, u, and n.

spelling words with oversized letter cards

Use them to have your learners line up to spell words that you call out. Use phonics words, sight words, multi-syllable words, or even vocabulary words!

Or another fun way to use the oversized letter cards is to put them on the floor and have learners hop to letters as they spell words.

    Hi.
I often try to download your Freebies and find it all so very frustrating and confusing as it is not a simple process. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you Becky. Would you be able to make these editable or will be making letter cards for all of the other different spellings? Much appreciated.

As a resource person in my school, I love your site, I am able to get simple activities for the students I am supporting and I use them with the materials the teachers give me. I also use the activities with my grand daughter who has just started school this year! Thank you so much for your hard work!!
