I can’t wait to tell you about our updated Sight Word Games App today because I know you’re going to love the updates*!

Updated Sight Word Games App

1. The first update is that we’ve added a larger variety of words. The words now include all* the words you find in the Dolch PP, P, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades lists plus Fry’s first 100, second 100, and third 100 words.  {*There is one exception: don’t. We were unable to it because it has an apostrophe.}

scroll and select words from our updated sight words app

2. The second update is that it’s WAY easier to select the words for each user. Just scroll through the alphabet and find the words you need for each learner. Just select or deselect the word by tapping on it. The word will turn purple with a check beside it when it’s been selected.

3. The “learn” section has been updated a little bit, too. Learners tap on a word from the list you’ve assigned. They hear the word spelled, build the word back in the correct order, then trace each letter of the word.

4. Switching users is super simple! Just tap the icon on the left bottom corner. This will change the name that appears at the bottom of the screen. Learners tap until they find their name, then go to the “Learn” or “Play” section.

now you can share and sync data from one device to another with our updated sight word games app

5. The last update {and my favorite} is that you can now sync and share data from one device to another!!! Just enter it on one device and then sync it to your other devices. WOOHOO! This is the same thing we did with our Alphabet Spellers App.

All the fun games your kids know and love are still there! You can read about each one in my introductory post about the app.

*Please note: When you update the app, you will lose the data you had on the older version.

How do I update? Every time I go in the app store I just get what I already have.

That happened on one of my devices, too. I had to completely delete the app. Then, I had to actually search “Sight Word Games App” on iTunes for the app and download it from there. When I found the app in my purchases, it only gave me the older version, but searching on the app store itself gave me the newer version. So weird. Let me know if that helps!

I entered all my kiddos on one ipad and tried to sync to another ipad. The users I entered never showed up, making me think it never synced.

Are you iPads on a shared cloud? I don’t think the sync and share works if they aren’t.

They’re all under one account so I would think so.
I had to go and open each iPad, manually log in, and push sync on each one.

Yes, you do have to sync each one. I’m sorry I didn’t catch that and explain it better. Glad you figured it out!

Help! I can’t get the sound to work. The sound works on all other apps. Nothing comes up when I try to click “menu” under adults – the only options are to create users or sync between devices.

Hi Megan, See if this post helps with sound issues -> https://thisreadingmama.com/help-sound-apps/ If not, there’s an email address for the app developer. He is super helpful if you’re still stuck.

At this time, the app does not allow you to add your own sight words. To add the sight words for your learner to use, go to the word list for the user and check the words you want your learners to practice.
