Last month, I shared our Roll a Turkey Math Fact Dice Game and it was a huge success with my 1st and 2nd grader. So today, I’m sharing our Roll a Gingerbread House Math Game, which is played the same way!

Roll a Gingerbread House Math Game
Included in the download are TWO LEVELS of learning!
Level 1 is for addition and subtraction between two dice. Level 2 is for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with two dice. My two kiddos used the Level 2 game, as the multiplication and division problems aren’t too hard to figure out, especially if kids can rote count.
To play, each player {2-4 players recommended} needs a complete set of gingerbread house pieces. You can print these in color or in blackline. The goal is to be the first player to put together a complete gingerbread house.
Players share a Roll a Gingerbread House answer guide. Each possible answer is related to a part of the gingerbread house.
Players take turns rolling the dice, with a goal of rolling a double. When a double is rolled by a player, that player can start building his/her gingerbread house with the frame first. {If you want to skip this rule, the game will still work.}
As the two dice are rolled, the player must either add, subtract, multiply, or divide the two numbers (Level 2) to build the gingerbread house. For example, if a player rolls a 4 and a 2, he could add (6), subtract (2), multiply (8) or divide (also 2) to get an answer. Depending upon which gingerbread house piece he needs, he uses the answer that works best.
If all the answers a player can get from the two dice rolled only gives him gingerbread pieces he already has, the player loses a turn.
Also included in the download are recording sheets, where players write down their number sentences and combinations used in the game.
