FREE Printable Digraph Puzzles

What exactly are digraphs? Digraphs are two letters that come together and make ONE sound {they count as only one phoneme}. The most common digraphs are ch, sh, and th. So, these are the three digraphs I’ve included in these free, printable puzzles.

Digraphs can be a tricky phonics skills for many children. They can also be confused with other speech sounds. This makes them a double whammy for some learners. Today, I’m sharing some free, printable digraph puzzles with lots of phonics and/or speech practice.

CH and TH Printable Digraph Puzzles with phonics pictures

Each puzzle comes with 13-15 phonics pictures to reinforce the sounds of ch, sh & th. Just cut out the puzzle pieces and use the digraph mats to have your learner work them. A picture key is included on all three puzzle pages so you know what each picture represents. If you’d like, you can write the words on the back of each piece of the puzzle.

alphabet puzzle and digraph puzzle - sorting pieces by beginning sounds

One of my favorite ways to use these puzzles is to sort between single letters and digraphs, such as s and sh. Just mix up all the pieces between the two puzzles and sort them by beginning sound! {This can be more challenging than you might think!}

      I used regular scissors to cut mine. If you cut slowly, it helps.
