Printable Grammar Scavenger Hunts
There are ELEVEN free hunts for kids. Most are for older learners {grades 3 and up}, but some can be adapted for younger ages. Just print off the hunt of your choice and give it to your learner(s).
The best part is that kids can just use the books they own {or books from the library} to complete the boards. You don’t need to prepare or buy anything for them to play!
- 3 Punctuation Hunts – Some require learners to find the just check the box while others require learners to find a sentence with the punctuation and copy it onto their board.
- 4 General Parts of Speech Hunts – Some require learners to find the just check the box while others require learners to find a sentence with the punctuation and copy it onto their board.
- Noun Hunt – for common, proper, plural, & compound nouns plus pronouns
- Noun Hunt – for proper, plural, compound, abstract, concrete, countable, uncountable, & collective nouns plus pronouns
- Adjective Hunt – learners look for kinds of adjectives like those that tell a number, size, opinion, etc.
- Adverb Hunt – learners look for kinds of adverbs like those that tell why?, where?, or how?
How to Play:
1. Learners read books, then find the things from their board.
2. Once learners have found or done the items on their boards, they either check them off, color them, or copy a sentence from a book that has something from their board in it.
3. You can either do the hunt with them {if more support is needed} or let them do it all on their own. Either way, be sure to follow up by asking them to share the what they discovered with you. That way, you’re making sure they understand the punctuation and grammar concepts on each board.
