Cut & Count Math Mats - learners cut apart 10 manipulatives to use on the mat

I like that these mats get kids using scissors to cut out the manipulatives first. {Hello, fine motor skills!} If you’re looking for more cutting practice, you might like our free Cut it Out! Packs.

Cut & Count Mat Mats - use the manipulatives for math problems

Once they are cut out, learners can use the little cards to count or work on simple addition/subtraction problems.

Cut & Count Math Mats: FOUR LEVELS of Play!

LEVEL 1: Learners simply place manipulative cards on their mats one at a time as you count out loud with them.

LEVEL 2: Place a certain number of cards on the math mat. Ask your learner to count how many are on the mat to tell you the amount.

LEVEL 3: Show a number card (0-10). After the number is identified, ask your learner to count out that many on the mat.

LEVEL 4: Use the manipulative cards to solve simple word problems for addition and subtraction. Example: Three fish were swimming in the sea. Two more came to swim. How many fish are swimming in the sea now? {Learners put three fish on the mat, then add two more for the answer of five.}

    We love using the math mats. So much fun. We taped a baggie on the back to hold the pieces. Thank you!

    I love these! I am a special educator and snagged them for a new student whose skills are at a completely differently level than my other students this year, so she won’t need to share these!
