Free Printable Christmas Songs Mad Libs
My kids are using these FREE Christmas Mad Libs to practice parts of speech in a silly way!
Five public domain Christmas carols are included:
- Jingle Bells
- Up on the Housetop
- Jolly Old St. Nicholas
- Deck the Halls
- Away in a Manger
I honestly would have loved to included more familiar Christmas songs, but many of them were not public domain. Also, it felt a little sacrilegious to include Away in a Manger, but I knew it would be familiar to most kids. If you don’t feel comfortable using it, feel free to skip it.
In the pack is a list of parts of speech that may help give learners ideas for the mad-libs.
The first thing you need to give learners is the Parts of Speech Page WITHOUT telling them which song they’re doing. If they know the song ahead of time, it can spoil the spontaneity of the words they choose. Learners can either fill this out themselves or they can do this in pairs.
After the page has been filled out, learners insert the words into the Christmas songs and laugh along! To make sure learners have the right song, the number up in the top left corner of the song page matches the parts of speech page.
