Roll & Read Number Sense Games for Kindergarten

One of my favorite thing about these Roll & Race number sense games is they are NO PREP and fun! There are five different number sense games included in my Kindergarten pack.

  1. How Many? Counting 1-10 objects
  2. How Many? Counting 1-10 Ten Frames
  3. How Many? Counting 1-20 Ten Frames
  4. Fill in the Missing Number from 1-30
  5. Comparing Numbers 1-30

Playing Roll & Race Number Sense Games

It is super simple to play these games.

  1. Roll a single die.
  2. Match the die you rolled to the one pictured on the page. Work the math problem in the first square in the row you rolled.
  3. Cover that space. {We used our Power Magnets, but you can use anything to cover or color the row.}
  4. Roll the die again and repeat steps 1-3, working your way through the different rows.

5. Students keep rolling, working, and covering until they have a row that has “won” 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place. {On average, this gets kids working about 20 problems.}

Example Recording Page for Number Sense Games

Also included are recording sheets that kids can use to write their answers. This is an especially important component if this is done as an independent activity and you need an accountability piece for the learner {like at a math center}.

Probably more challenging than the How Many? games are these comparing numbers and missing numbers games, which help build number sense up to 30.
