I’ve mentioned before with our Trace It! Try It! Number Pages that my Kindergartner needs to practice writing her numbers. And while she has enjoyed these pages, she still struggles to write her numbers the conventional way when she’s working on her math. Her numbers tend to turn our backwards or sometimes even upside down.
Every time I help her with writing her numbers, I look at our alphabet chart and think, “You need a simple number chart that can serve as a quick reference for number formation.” So I finally had some time to create and share a number chart for numbers 1-20.

The idea here is multiple and meaningful exposure. Most children will stop reversing or confusing numbers {and letters} after they have had meaningful experiences over time with them. If a child does not, it could be a red flag for a learning difference.
At first, I created only a 1-10 number chart.
But then thought that numbers 11-20 were also troublesome for her {and for other kids, too}. So, I created a second chart for numbers 11-20*. Notice that the images that go with each of these numbers aren’t necessarily conventional. For example, the die dots add up to 13, the spider legs {8+8} add up to 16, and the flag has 20 checks.
*Please note!! Number 18 has been changed to a domino showing 18 dots!!
And then, I realized I wanted her to have just one chart for numbers 1-20, so I created that! {My brain is super good at thinking of ways to give me more work to do. It’s a curse!} In the pack, there are a total of three number charts! I only created them in color, but you can print in black/grayscale if you want to save on ink.
*Please note!! Number 18 has been changed to a domino showing 18 dots!!
I hung the 1-20 chart over my Kindergartner’s desk and I plan on helping her see how she can use it as a resource when writing numbers. If we want to travel somewhere else to do our math, I have printed another chart that she keeps with her math work.

Great printable! I will be using the 1-20 version with my daughter who is starting kindergarten in homeschool this year 🙂 Thank you!
🙂
Thank you for this! Really nicely presented 1 – 20 for my young TEFL student to use as a reference.
You’re welcome! I’m glad you’re able to use it with your students!
Thank you so much! Your items are so colorful and useful!
You’re very welcome! 🙂
Hi. I just came across your site and I love it. Your products are so colorful and nice. I am interested in your free number chart (1-20). Is there a version with other objects for the number eighteen?
No, there’s not. Sorry.
Would love to know if you ever update this page and change the number 18 from mixed coins to something that can be counted. My class of K4 can easily use this chart with the exception of money and I would love them to have this source.
Yes, it’s been updated. 18 now shows a domino with 9 dots on each side. 🙂
Thank you. These are so cute!
Hi there! love the number chart and your style of decorating it. Do you have this in alphabet? Shapes? Colors? I would love to download them to add to my writing wall for my kinders! Thanks! Melissa
I have this one for beginning sounds –> https://thisreadingmama.com/beginning-sounds-chart/
But I don’t have shapes and colors charts. Sorry!
What program did you use to create these pages?
Powerpoint. 🙂
My son absolutely loved when I put this up on the wall. He always asks what numbers look like when he wants to write them so now he loves that he can just look up at this! Any chance you have a similar alphabet chart for letter formation? Or interest in making one?
It’s coming soon! 🙂
I just saw the letter formation chart! Yay! Thanks so much, I needed this for my 5 year old today!
Hey Becky! I LOVE this numbers sheet. Is there anyway you have this in Spanish as my little one is learning and I know they would love this in Spanish too.
At this time, I don’t have plans to make the chart in Spanish. Sorry. 🙁
This is my first year homeschooling and I love this printable. Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much
