I can’t believe it, but I’ve been blogging now for 11 years! The following posts I’m linking to are ELEVEN of my top posts from the past 11 years.
If you’re new to This Reading Mama, some of these might be new. If you’re not-so-new, you may have forgotten about these, so enjoy…
Stay tuned for more birthday celebrations coming up this month! You can read more about them at the BOTTOM of this post.
Top 11 Posts from the Past 11 Years
I’m counting down from eleven to one…
11. Blends and Digraphs Chart – Up first {well, eleventh really} is our FREE Blends & Digraphs Chart. And if you aren’t sure what the difference between blends & digraphs is, there are links to free posters that help explain the difference in a multi-sensory way!
10. Preschool and Kindergarten Packs – These FREE Learning Packs for Preschool and Kindergarten were some of the first freebies I offered on my blog. They’re still very popular with young learners, too!
9. No Prep Hard and Soft C/G Pages – Our NO PREP Hard and Soft C/G Pages have been a big hit with readers. They are sample pages from the comprehensive pack from our shop, so if you’re looking for even more, I’d recommend snagging a copy!
8. Helping Struggling Readers – Struggling readers has been my heartbeat since DAY ONE of this blog. It was actually the first series I ever wrote about. This post, which has lots of resources for struggling readers, continues to be a big help for those that teach them.
7. Nonfiction Comprehension Helps – When I wrote this post about Non-Fiction Text Features and Text Structures, my blog blew up! I definitely wasn’t expecting it to resonate with readers as much as it did. It still continues to be a popular one today!
6. Free ABC Packs – My youngest was my busiest child BY FAR. As a toddler and young preschooler, she vied for my attention CONSTANTLY! These ABC Printable Packs seriously saved my sanity and taught her letters and sounds.
5. Phonics Assessment for K-3 Learners – Need a snapshot of your learner’s phonics skills. This FREE Phonics Assessment will do the trick! Update: I recently created a FREE Upper Grade Phonics Assessment, too.
4. Sight Word Sentence Cards – My sight word sentence cards are tied very closely to the next three posts as the most visited on the blog.
PLEASE NOTE though, that I do NOT endorse using these anymore. Although I am keeping them on the blog {for now}, I encourage you to use the updated cards, which have decodable sentences and feature both printable and digital cards. These can only be found in my shop!
3. Short Vowel Word Family Books – These FREE Word Family Books are from my full Learn to Read curriculum, which I recommend for beginning readers once they know how to sound out simple CVC words.
2. Spelling Folder – Our Spelling Folder for 1st-2nd grades was the first learning folder I made. It was so popular that I decided to make even more:
- Preschool Learning Folder
- Kindergarten Spelling Folder
- Elementary Spelling Folder {Grades 3-5}
- Writing Folders {for K-5}
- Math Folders {for K-5}
1. BOB Books Printables – Our BOB Books printables are BY FAR the most visited posts on the blog. In this series, you’ll find FREE printables for Set 1, Set 2, Set 3, Set 4, and Set 5. I also made printables for their Rhyming Words books.
There you have it…our Top 11 posts. I hope you’ve enjoyed exploring them as much as I enjoyed putting the post together.

I love being able to search for ideas on your blog. I have used your list for teaching character traits and making connections for my groups several times! I am a Title I teacher so I teach lots of different standards to small groups! I am also into the science of reading, so anything to do with that is great too!
So far I love the alphabet game with the bugs and jars. My son noticed the upper and lowercase letters matched in color before I did.
I love all your reading resources. I am a reading specialist and they have been so helpful to my students. Happy Birthday!
I love and use your phonics materials with great success! Love all of your freebies, too!
I love your spelling folder. We use them ALL the time during our writing time. 💗
Becky! This is a very hard question as you are my go-to for EVERYTHING! I teach upper elementary and I can find materials that help me teach my urgent and intervention learners. I actually downloaded the upper grade phonics test; Looks my urgent learners need teaching based on the entire test. So, the phonics bundle is one of many favorites from your shop.
I love your sight word games and your B and D reversal activiites.
Wow! I love so many of your resources! the spelling and learning folders are great. Love all of the alphabet resources. Too many to choose. Thank you for all of the terrific resources you share. I frequently recommend you to colleagues and to parents.
I love the upper grade phonics assessment. I would love to see more decodable books with more complex vowel structures and anything that appeals more to older learners (grades 4-6) who are learning primary concepts of learning to read.
