Sight Words Rhyming Game
In the pack, you’ll find four levels of words loosely based off of the Dolch/Fry’s sight word lists: Level 1- PP/P, Level 2- 1st grade, Level 3- 2nd grade, and Level 4- 3rd grade. Included in each sight word game is a set of 8 rhyming pairs and a couple of extra cards to make the game extra challenging {keep reading}.
It is important to note that just because the sight words rhyme, doesn’t mean their rimes are spelled the same. For example, but and what rhyme, but they are not spelled the same at the end of the word {-ut and -at}.
Another quick note: this game is naturally self-checking, as the rhyming and matching sight words also match in color.
This sight words rhyming game is like your classic game of memory match, but with a twist that makes it even more challenging and fun! Two extra cards are included with each level. These are called, “Mix it Up!” cards.
When a player turns over a “Mix it Up!” card, in a sense he loses a turn. The “Mix it Up!” card is removed from the playing area; and the cards all get mixed up. Play resumes again with the next player turning over two cards, looking for a rhyming sight words pair.
If you want to play a regular game of memory match, just remove the two “Mix it Up!” cards from the deck. You can also add more cards to the game by mixing two sight word levels together.
