My son {6 years old} is really beginning to get the concept of the CVCe long vowel pattern. He’s one of these kids that cracked the code early, mostly on his own, and is still cracking the code of reading. He loves to read and is highly interested. Woohoo! {By the way, this has not been the case with my oldest son…and I keep telling myself that’s okay, too.}
After making our CVCe Building Mats and then seeing The Measured Mom’s Short Vowel Stamping Mats, I decided to make him some Long Vowel CVCe Spell & Stamp Mats.

Long Vowel CVCe Spell & Stamp Mats
So I could get two uses out of these mats, he first spelled them with our letter tiles. Beforehand, I pulled all the letters he’d need and placed them in a container. If you don’t have letter tiles, our FREE download {found at the end of this post} has some paper ones included in it. All you need to do is print them onto cardstock and laminate them to make them more like tiles.
Spelling with the letter tiles also allowed me to see if he got the spellings right before he stamped them. For example, he spelled rake like RACE. So we had a little mini-lesson over the soft c sound when followed by an e.
Note: Just in case you’re not sure exactly what word is pictured, there is a picture key included in the download.
Once he had the CVCe words spelled correctly, he was free to stamp them with our letter stamps.
