After working many of the activities from our All About Color Words Pack and coloring the books in our Color and Read set, my daughter {age 5} has shown a high interest in reading color words. I search the internet over to find some simple color words coloring pages for her so she could work some more on learning her color words. I couldn’t quite find the kind of coloring pages I wanted, so I decided to create some for her.
Today, I’m sharing our Color Words Coloring Pages with you. If you have a little one who enjoys coloring and is curious about color words, these may just work for your child as well! You can find the free download towards the end of this post.

Simple Color Words Coloring Pages
These color words coloring pages were fun for both my girls {although I’m sure boys who love to color would like them as well}. They have been the perfect tool to pull out during read aloud time, rest time, and during dinner prep time. Total there are 20 simple coloring pages, with two levels.
These coloring pages come in two levels. Level 1 is great for a pre-reader. My 3 year old, for example, used the coloring pages in level 1.
I love how independently she was able to color these because the color word is written in its color, making them self-checking.
Level 2 has the color words in black and white, making these great for older kids, like my 5 year old, who was ready for the added challenge.
To make her a little less dependent on me, I created a color words chart, which she used to find the color words. This required that she read through each word, looking at the letters within each word. The color word chart is also included in the download. She REALLY liked how the chart helped her read the words “like a Kindergartner.”
