Number Sense Cards
These number cards are a great way to build number sense! Included for each number are:
- the digit
- fingers counting to the number {2 hands}
- tally marks
- base ten blocks
- number word
- ten frames
One way to practice number sense is to have learners sort the cards by what number they show. You can sort them on a pocket chart or table top.
You can play memory match or even a modified “Go Fish” with the cards or a “which of these doesn’t belong?” game, like in the image above. Lay out the six cards and ask which ones go with the number and which ones don’t.
Of course, learners may have other ideas of games that can be played with the number cards. The important thing is multiple and meaningful exposure to the numbers and different ways to make or represent numbers.
Combine these with my number sorting cards 1-10 for a complete set of numbers 1-20!
