My toddler has begun to take a big interest in rhyming words. Just a few weeks ago, I happened to mention the fact that her name rhymes with her absolute favorite cartoon character.
I kept saying the two names back-to-back, saying, “They rhyme.” Ever since then, we have made a lot more rhyming word pairs together.
And while she hasn’t perfected making a rhyme by any means, her interest in rhyming has definitely picked right up. To encourage her interest further, I made her a Roll a Rhyme activity with picture dice. {Free download at the end of this post.}

Roll a Rhyme Activity Pack
Teaching kids to rhyme can be absolutely fun. You can read books, sing songs, read books & sing, or print off any of our FREE rhyming activities from our Rhyme Time Pack or Rhyming Clip Cards.
This FREE Roll a Rhyme Activity Pack is just one more tool for your tool box.
I advise that you print these on cardstock and/or laminate for durability, especially if you have multiple kids who will be using them. And if you use glue, be sure it dries well before you roll and rhyme!
With THREE levels of rhyming, you can:
- Roll and Match Picture to Picture {for beginning rhymers}
- Roll and Match Picture to Word {for beginning readers}
- Roll and Match Word to Word {for more advanced readers}
Both of my daughters greatly enjoyed level 1 together, but especially my 2 year old. She rolled the dice {note: there are TWO sets of dice included in the pack}, then we named each picture aloud.
When they rhymed, she’d say, “They match!”
My Kindergartner wanted a piece of the action, so I printed off level 3 for him and we played a few rounds together. Note: if you have an active child, glue or tape down the dice really well before using them.

Are the dice pictured in Level 1 available?
If you are referring to the images themselves, I bought them at TpT. There should be a link to that shop in my download. 🙂
Thanks – great differentiation for a Prep/Year 1 class
