St. Patty’s day will soon be here, so I thought I’d take a day to post some printables with a green theme!
The first two printables are very similar to the My Yellow Book Njoy did in our letter Y post and the What is Yellow? emergent reader.
Designed even for the young “reader” (ages 2-3); child colors/paints the pictures and mama or teacher reads the book to him. Some children may like to “read” the book themselves after being read to.
Emergent Reader designed for ages 4-6; child colors/paints the pictures and reads it himself.
Goodnight Green: A poem I wrote a year ago to go with St. Patty’s Day. I used this one with ALuv (at age 5). It reviews the sight words: are, is, the, on, my, & green. You can view the post here.
You can download it as a poem OR I made it into an an emergent reader, which you can download here. Here are the last two sample pages from the book version:
You might also want to include a My Autographs Page at the end of the What is Green? and Goodnight Green reader to encourage re-reading of the text.
You can download more of my emergent readers here.
Have a happy St. Patrick’s Day and remember to wear GREEN! 🙂

This is a great resource which I am going to try with my daughter. Thanks. I like the autographs idea too. I have seen it done with a book mark but in the book makes sense. Kids can’t loose it as easily!
Awesome! The autograph idea isn’t original to me. I had a teacher of 31 years share it with me. It’s amazing what still works…31 years later! 🙂
