My first grader has been learning about 3D shapes in math. I must admit that teaching 3D shapes is one of my favorite units to teach because it’s so easy to make it hands-on. All you need are some shapes and you’re ready explore!

Don’t have 3D shapes? I highly recommend these. You can also collect small objects from your classroom or house that are these shapes and use those with your learners. But the point remains – your learners NEED to touch and feel to make learning 3D shapes fun and engaging!
Foldable 3D Shape Books
These foldable 3D shape books are SUPER EASY to fold and use with your learners. In just two folds, the books are made, which means your learners can do all the work!
The first fold is made short ways down the horizontal center and
the second fold is along the vertical center line.
Make learning about 3D shapes even more hands-on with our Hands-On 3D Shapes Printable Pack, a subscribe freebie! Just subscribe and grab your copy.
The inside of each foldable book requires learners to explore shapes and write their findings inside.
The first inside page asks learners to count the number of flat faces, edges, and vertices. The second page requires that learners explore with shapes to know if they will roll, slide, and/or stack.
The back page asks learners to find objects in their environment that match the shape. They draw and label their findings.
Total there are 8 free books. One for cubes, cones, cylinders, spheres, rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, pyramids, and hemispheres.
