Today, I’m so excited to share my Dr. Seuss Cut it Out! Pack. If you’re new to my Cut it Out! Packs, you will find four levels of cutting: 1- straight lines, 2- curvy lines, 3- zig-zag lines, and 4- shapes; perfect for preschoolers just beginning to learn to cut as well as those older preschoolers who need an extra fun challenge. Each level not only practices cutting, but there are suggestions for extending the activities so that you don’t just end up with a pile of cut up paper when your child cuts. 🙂 And don’t forget that using those scissors is such a fun way to strengthen those fine motor muscles used for writing!

The pictures chosen from this pack go with four of Dr. Seuss’ well-known books, perfect for Dr. Seuss’ upcoming birthday {March 2nd}!

  • The Cat in the Hat: cat/hat
  • Hop on Pop: hop/pop
  • Fox in Socks: fox/socks
  • Green Eggs and Ham: mouse/house

MBug {3.5 years old} uses her Maped Scissors {which I highly recommend for beginners} and cuts on the straight lines to make puzzles. Then, she matches them back up and glues them down to paper. She likes me to display them on the wall after she’s finished.

Level 4 in this pack is super fun and I’m rather proud of it {as it took me about 2 hours to make it!}. This time, all three older kiddos wanted to work on the shapes level at the same time. I was surprised how well MBug stuck with it.

They cut out the shapes,

glued the shapes down to the hat template {I cut the template out ahead of time}, and colored their own hats. I encouraged them to color with a pattern, like the cat’s hat, but MBug and NJoy did their own thing. 🙂

taping strips on the back of hat

They cut out and attached their cat ears, from the last page of the pack, and I attached {with tape} the strips of paper to make a head band.

Then everyone wore their hats in fashion show. We really had a blast!
