FREE Beginning Sounds Clip Cards {Trace & Clip}
While you can find tons of clip cards on the web to review letter sounds, I haven’t seen any that get kids tracing letters AND clipping sounds!
If you’d like more alphabet clip cards, you might like our challenging Beginning Alphabet Sounds Clip Cards, too.
While I don’t laminate everything I create, laminating these is a must. {This is my favorite laminator.} This way, learners can trace and re-trace the letters with dry erase marker before they clip the picture.
The pictures chosen for each letter are related to the letter in some way and provide a challenge to learners, too! In the letter p example above, /b/ is the voiced pair with /p/ {if you say the sound of p and use your voice, you’ll get /b/}, making it a little tricky. Lamp ends with the /p/ sound. So learners really have to listen carefully to the sounds they hear {and where they hear them} to clip the correct picture!
Variation: If you don’t want to laminate and cut out the beginning sounds clip cards, slip into a dry erase pocket. Learners can still trace the letters. Instead of clipping the beginning sound, learners can place an object, like bottle caps, over top of the correct answer.
