Have you seen all the free math games & activities from our K-2 Math Activities series? These roll and race games have been so fun to create, including these base ten games designed for 2nd grade. I’ve enjoyed using them with my own learners at home!

Base Ten Games – Roll & Race
In this roll and race pack, you’ll find 4 different base ten games, perfect for independent work, a math center, or at-home math practice with base ten numbers 100-1,000. While they were designed with 2nd grade in mind, younger or older kids may enjoy them, too!
4 Different Base Ten Games
- How Many? Game – counting base ten blocks up to 1,000
- 10 More & 10 Less – mentally adding and subtracting 10 from numbers up to 1,000
- 100 More & 100 Less – mentally adding and subtracting 100 from numbers up to 1,000
- Expanded Form – writing numbers in expanded for
All four games also have a recording sheet that makes a great accountability piece if your learner is using it for independent work.
These games are NO PREP, which makes them great! Just gather a die and something to cover the board. This time, we used our dot paint, but we’ve used our Power Magnets and transparent counters in the past. You can also gather a handful of beans or pennies. {If you choose to also print the recording pages, your learner will need his/her pencil, too.}
To play any of the base ten games, the learner rolls a die. He then solves the first problem from the row that matches the number he rolled on the die.
If you chose to, the learner can also record his answer on the recording sheet, but this isn’t necessary if you’re doing the game with a small group or single learner.
Learners keep rolling, solving, stamping, and writing until they have rows that make first, second, and third place.
While I don’t have images of all the games, here’s an example of the expanded form base ten game. All the other games can be found in the free download below!
