Here’s a Valentine’s Day themed word sort for the two sounds of final y (long i and long e) called MY CANDY HEARTS!
Students sort these candy hearts (2 pages of hearts)
under the head words ”my” and “candy”, then talk about the pattern they notice within these words (y on the end of a one-syllable word generally says the long i sound and y on the end of a two-syllable word generally makes the long e sound).
