Vowel Team Phonics Worksheets

These worksheets really pack a punch in helping learners read words by using chunks they know {a.k.a. reading by analogy}. This is a life-long skill we use as readers. So we want to encourage it, even starting with small chunks, like vowel teams.

The vowel teams included in this free color the chunk pack are ai, ay, ee, ea, igh trigraph, oa, ow, oo, and ow. All of these pages focus in on just the long vowel team sounds.

Long o Vowel Team Color the Chunk Page

In the top right corner of each page, you’ll find the vowel team chunk learners should focus on with a key word and picture.

Learners color the chunk on each page and then use that chunk to help them read each word. It’s that simple!

Enjoy teaching!

I love this activity! My child is both a visual and kinetic learner. This should definitely help her to spot those word chunks. Along with helping her with those tricky vowel combinations. Thanks so much!!
