Cut it Out! is a multi-leveled cutting and scissor practice pack for

1) straight lines
2) curvy lines
3) zigzag lines
4) shapes

My goal is to get in some scissor practice (fine motor) AND integrate other skills, too. For example, after the objects are cut out, kids can make patterns with them, make puzzles, glue down pieces, or solve a puzzle (level 4).

gluing down the puzzle pieces after cutting

MBug (almost 4) has “graduated” to level 2 and thoroughly enjoys each pack I create. She was the driving force behind these packs because this girl LOVES to cut…paper into tiny pieces all over the floor. I needed to develop something for her and for my sanity! 🙂

Because there are so many different cutting activities in the pack, I like to give NJoy (age 5) a choice as to which one he’d like to do. This time, he chose the zigzag (level 3) cutting cards.

drawing extra cutting lines for a challenge

But to give him an extra challenge, I drew an extra diagonal line on his cards so that each puzzle had 4 pieces, not just two.

putting the puzzle together after cutting

This actually made the activity more challenging than I thought! But he had a BLAST and LOVED the challenge of putting the “puzzles” together after he had cut them apart.
