FREE Rhyming Word Posters
Rhyming is one of those skills under the phonological awareness umbrella.
Phonological awareness is just a fancy word for the awareness of words and their sounds. For example, if a child can hear a sentence such as, “Today, it rained,” and they can tell you that it has three words, they have an awareness of words.
Of all the phonological awareness skills, rhyming is one of the first and easiest skills we can teach. Therefore, it is an important skill to work on and play with in the preschool/pre-reading years.
I’m excited to share with you my NEW rhyming word posters. The set comes with ten half-page color and blackline posters.
All 10 half-page posters come with and without words.
I would encourage you to print, laminate {if you plan to use repeatedly}, cut out, and then hole punch in the corner of the card. You can then fasten them together with a ring to make a flip book. The cool thing is that you can then hang the flip book up on a hook or nail.
Learners name the larger picture, then the bottom three pictures and listen for the rhyming words as they do: knee, bee, Dd, tree.
The rhyming word posters include these rhymes:
- cat, hat, bat, rat
- knee, bee, Dd, tree
- jeep, sheep, sweep, sleep
- ring, swing, king, wing
- hay, play, ray, tray
- socks, fox, rocks, box
- vet, wet, net, pet
- snake, cake, lake, rake
- clown, down, frown, crown
- goat, coat, boat, float
Enjoy teaching!
