Reading the Alphabet Letter B
I’m not posting as many pictures of our week today because the beginning of our Letter B week was a bit “off” for NJoy ( just turned 4). Some of the activities he’s enjoyed doing all along seemed to be of no interest to him.
Take for example this poke page. It’s usually one of his favorites. He was more interested in making smiley faces and lines than poking through the letters. It’s times like this that I have to remind myself that he’s only 4 years old. So, we took a day (or two) off of “school work” to…
focus on some Angry Birds! 🙂 Hey, birds starts with b, right?!? It was amazing what this break did for his spirit, and mine!
The rest of the week, he was back in business, enjoying his work.
I changed up our picture sort on the pocket chart. Instead of giving him the letters at the top of the columns first, he had to listen to the initial sounds from each picture card and figure out how many columns to make,
then he added the letters at the very end.
B is for Back: (Book/Print Awareness) Something else we included in our week that’s not in the lesson plans is discussing the back of books. When we’d read, I’d sprinkle in, “Remember, when we studied F, we talked about the front of the book. Well, this is the back of the book…”
I think he enjoyed our talk about the back of books because one evening, the house was rather quiet (with NJoy, this is usually not a good thing). I walked into the schoolroom to discover him writing his name on the backs of all his letter readers! {Sorry for all the black out boxes!}

Hello – I’ve also tried downloading this one and it ended up including the AT Word Family as well (same with Reading the Alphabet for Letter D).
Please let me know how I can have access to these files. Thank you!
I’m working on updating all these links. Lessons 1-7 have been fixed so far and I’m heading over to Letter Dd right now. 🙂
