No Prep Rote Counting Pages
I used to just think that rote counting was a math skill that was learned to just check off a list. In the last few years, I have come to realize how it lays the foundation for other math skills like repeated addition, and multiplication.
This lead me to create our rote counting wall, which gets a great response on Instagram anytime I post about it.
Rote counting is a part of my learners’ independent work nearly every week. Once they’ve mastered one, they move on to another. I was amazed at how quickly my son mastered his multiplication facts in the third grade. I chalk it up to rote counting practice.
Rote counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s is a great starting place.
This year I created some no prep rote counting pages for my first grader to use as independent work. Today, I’m excited to finally share them with you!
In the pack are three rote counting pages. Learners count pairs of shoes for the 2’s page, count toes for the 5’s page, and count fingers for the 10’s page. You’ll find pages with the counting strip up at the top {like you see above} and pages without the number strip.
Three color & count pages are also included, where learners color the number charts as they count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s.

Enjoy teaching!
