Alphabet Worksheets – Activity Pages from A to Z

By thisreadingmama 39 Comments

Alphabet worksheets from A to Z. Yes; you read it correctly. I know it probably seems strange to read that word in a title on my blog, seeing that I really don’t make or use a ton of worksheets with my younger kids.

But my preschooler has really enjoyed using these {1-2 worksheets a week} along with a second round of Learning the Alphabet this school year. I like that she can do them mostly on her own. She really enjoys tracing, dotting, coloring, and making patterns.

Alphabet Worksheets - FREE A to Z Activity Pages | This Reading Mama

The real scoop on worksheets is that not all worksheets are created equal. Some worksheets can actually be interactive, game-like, and hands-on, like our Playdough Mats or low prep phonics games. Using these kinds of worksheets in moderation, especially with young children, can actually be effective when they are matched to what the child needs to practice {not learn}.

FREE Alphabet Worksheets from A to Z

These alphabet worksheets are a great independent activity for kids who can recognize letter names. If your child is not ready for these, doing the worksheets together is a great option. Just be sure to follow your child’s lead. Not all children will be drawn to these kinds of activities.

find the letters with counters or dot paint

With these alphabet worksheets, kids can use transparent counters or dot paint to find the letters. My daughter enjoys dotting the uppercase one color and the lowercase another color.

color or paint the pictures on alphabet worksheets

They can also color in the pictures or paint them. One thing we do is talk about the words beside each picture to integrate some print awareness, too.

dot paint or use Power Magnets for alphabet patterns

A favorite at our house was using the dot paint or our Power Magnets to create patterns on the bottom of each page.

He knows his letter and sounds , I plan on using them for a review. Thanks. He’ s on vacation from grandma school for now he just did 8 months of alphabet and other subjects.
He could start kindergarten and do well, how ever he just turned 4 in July. He has been working on cvc words for about a month and does pretty good. We also have thrown in a few 2 letter sight words. Thanks again. You take some time for you. God Bless you and your family.

Love these worksheets Becky! That must have been a lot of work. I got a Plus membership over the summer when my kids kept asking for more and more worksheets off the site. 🙂 It’s worth the money and we don’t homeschool. Lots of good stuff there.

When I print these it is like there is large letter outlines all over the page. Do I need to do something special?

I enjoy using ideas from your worksheets to teach. I am teaching little children in a village in Nigeria. I am getting resounding results as the children learn to read fast using sounds of letters.
