FREE Advent Activity Pages

By thisreadingmama 2 Comments

I’m excited to use these Advent Activity Pages with my 4th and 6th grade girls this year! I was so excited to find some awesome Jesse Tree clip art, so I created some pages for my youngest kids and decided to share them with you, too!

You’ll know they’re right for your child or learners if they like to color and can write/spell with independence. If I had to put an age on them, I’d say they’re perfect for 1st through 5th grades.

FREE Advent Activity Pages

I’ve enjoyed using the Jesse Tree with my kids in December. I think it’s awesome to remember that the Bible is all about one Person…Jesus Christ. He’s the Star of the show from the Old Testament to the New Testament.

If you’re not familiar with the Jesse Tree, the idea is based on Isaiah 11:1, in which Jesus is referred to as a shoot growing from the stump of Jesse, King David’s father. To use it during the Advent season, you start with the Old Testament and work your way up to Jesus’ birth {on December 25th} hanging ornaments on a Christmas tree. With each story, your goal is to help kids see how Jesus is the main character.

Looking for Jesse Tree devotionals? The Advent Jesse Tree is the book we use to guide our kids through each day. It has a quick devotional and songs you can sing together.

Alright, let’s talk about the freebies in this Advent Activity Pages Pack!

On each NO PREP Advent activity page, you will find two levels.

The first level has a name of Jesus as portrayed by the reading for that day. Some of the names of Jesus are found explicitly in Scripture, word for word {such as The Word or King of kings} while others are implied throughout Scripture {such as The Promise or The Ladder.}

The second level {added 2022} has a blank for the name of Jesus, requiring learners to figure it out based on the Scripture passage. If I were using the second level, I would be okay with any name my child came up with as long as it fit.

Advent Activity Pages Example - Jesus is the Perfect One - This Reading Mama

Each page features a picture to color and then a section at the bottom where kids can talk about what the name means and how that name is appropriate for Jesus.

I love the discussion that this opens up. For example, when Jesus is called The Ladder, we talk about how a ladder is used: to help us reach something up high. Jesus is our Ladder because He made a way for us to get to Heaven through His perfect sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the dead.
