Nativity Counting Clip Cards

The free clip cards you’ll find in this pack aren’t just any counting clip cards. Each card contains nativity-themed images {Mary, baby Jesus, wise men, shepherds, sheep, etc.} using ten frames.

Why ten frames? Because they are a great way to help young children develop number sense. Rather than just memorizing numbers  or counting, they are seeing a visual representation of the numbers which helps them to subitize. {Subitizing is how we can look at a pattern of dots on a die and know the number without needing to count them each time.}

Ten frames also help our kiddos to develop a good sense of the number ten, which is very important for addition in particular.

In this free pack, you’ll find 20 free clip cards for numbers 1-10 AND 20 free clip cards for numbers 11-20. Why two levels? Depending on your learners’ ages, you can differentiate for their needs.

Learners count or subitize the amount on each card then clip the answer with a clothespin.

If you want to make these cards self-checking, draw a star or smiley face on the back of the cards where the clothespin should clip. Learners can turn the cards over and check their answer.
