Wednesday is John Chapman’s (a.k.a. Johnny Appleseed) birthday! In honor of his birthday, I wanted to share a few apple book-related activities we’ve done here.
Ten Apples Up on Top! by Theo LeSieg
Use apple stickers with this FREEBIE! We used number stamps for each page. There are further directions on the download.
The Seasons of Arnold’s Apple Tree by Gail Gibbons
This craft was super easy to make! I took a piece of large drawing paper and folded it in two twice to make four sections. Dip the side of the hand into brown paint for the trunk and finger paint to make the leaves. We also used pink tissue paper for the apple blossoms and cotton for the snow. We made “The Seasons of ALuv’s Apple Tree” (or substitute your child’s name in there). Each season was labeled.
Apples for Everyone by Jill Esbaum
After reading this book {By the way, I LOVE these National Geographic Kids Books. We have quite a few of them, like this one.}, ALuv used this flip chart to draw and write about the different ways people use apples.
How Do Apples Grow? by Betsy Maestro
I wish I had a picture to go with this one, but we studied the life cycle of an apple using these cards.
Johnny Appleseed by Steven Kellogg
You Might Like our Johnny Appleseed Pack!
