Turkey Sentence Punctuation Sorts
These cute, little turkeys are a fun way to help learners identify sentences that end with a period, question mark, or exclamation mark. It’s also a great way to sneak in fluency, as you ask learners to read and reread the sentences to make sure they are sorted correctly.
To prep, just cut apart the turkey feather cards {no need to cut around every feather} and the turkey bodies.
**Update 2019: I had so many requests for mixed review turkeys that they’ve been added to the freebie. Find them on pages 10-16 of the free file below.
Lay out the turkey bodies and have learners read the sentences on the feathers to sort which punctuation is needed.
You can just use one turkey to practice reading sentences with fluency. {The interrogative and exclamatory sentences work best for this.} Learners can sort between two turkeys or use all three!
Color turkeys AND blackline turkeys are included in the freebie, too!
Extensions for the Sentence Punctuation Sorts:
- Ask learners to copy the sentences that they’ve sorted. They can just fold a piece of writing paper and write the punctuation up at the top of each column.
- Learners can create their own sentences and with correct punctuation after sorting these.
