In this free flashcard set, you’ll find these color and blackline 2D and 3D images:

  • 2D – circle, square, triangle, rectangle, diamond/rhombus, hexagon, octagon, star, crescent, & trapezoid
  • 3D – sphere, cube, cone, cylinder, rectangular prism, triangular prism

Shape Flashcards examples - This Reading Mama

Use these flashcards in a pocket chart, on your tabletop, or lay them on the floor and have learners hop to the shapes.

To make it real and applicable, you can also show a shape and have your learners find that shape around the classroom or your house. In a way, this “forces” your learners to understand that while the attributes of the shape will stay the same, shapes can look a little different at times. {Take for example a crayon and a toilet paper roll – both are cylinders.}
