In all the shuffle, I forgot to post a few weeks ago what we did with the letter V. I went with V is for VEHICLES because I knew NJoy would love the theme. I’ll warn you that we did A LOT with this theme. I was able to integrate a few preschool packs relating to transportation and had my curriculum! Yay!

Stamping Vehicles onto her Letter V
I totally “stole” Erica’s Letter Hunt idea and made one up for the letter v (V is for Van). I got her permission to post it for you to download. Here is NJoy using the vehicle stamps to find all the V’s (both upper and lower case).
I printed off a pom-pom letter V from here and put velcro on the backs of my violet pom-poms.
Van on the V road from Making Learning Fun-you can ask your child to drive the vehicle in the direction of how you write the letter to integrate some “handwriting”
Vehicle fun from Homeschool Creations (I used her Transportation Preschool Pack)
1+1+1=1 Monster Truck & Cars Preschool Packs
Misc. Vehicle Work:
Vehicle Sorting by Color (I laid out different colored felt pieces)
Vehicle Eraser Sorting: car, airplane, or train
Vehicle/Van Coloring from DLTK
V Crafts:
Vehicle Sponge Painting (I found this pack at the $1 store)
Making a fire truck with shapes (we did the letter V right around fire prevention week, so it tied in nicely with our theme).
ALuv wanted to show his off as well
Letter Review: Vehicle-style
I have this really cool chart from my teaching days that both boys have thoroughly enjoyed (I think it’s from Weekly Reader). If you think your little one would enjoy it, you can try and make your own. The way we reviewed his letters is that I said a letter sound/name and he pointed to it.
Of course, MBug had to get in on the action. She pointed to letters and I said the name or made the sound.
Here are the toys I rotated into the schoolroom (& kitchen) that went with our theme:
LeapFrog Magnetic Vehicle Wash
Vehicle Books:
The vehicle board books on MBug’s shelf
Here are the vehicle books that lined our schoolroom floor (and there were probably about 20 more in the boys’ room upstairs). Donald Crews and Richard Scarry are two of my boys’ favorite authors regarding vehicle books.
After our busy week, I posted V is for Van above NJoy’s Word Wall. This picture is a smaller version that I hand drew from here.
Thank you for joining This Reading Mama on a literacy journey!

Wow what a great list of activities! You really went for it. I have pinned this post so I can refer back to it when we get to ‘V’.
