What Exactly is Copywork?

The purpose of copywork is to create a “perfect copy”, with neat handwriting, correct capitalization, punctuation, spacing, and spelling. {All good things, right?} To accomplish this, you pick a passage from a well-written text and asks your child to copy it, word-for-word.

This exposes your child to great literature plus gives them practice with the mechanics of writing. I honestly can’t think of any greater literature than the Bible, can you? That’s why I’m excited to share my Thanksgiving copywork using Scripture verses and passages about giving thanks.

Thanksgiving Scripture Copywork

In this FREE pack, you’ll find SIX different Scriptures that focus on who God is and how we can give thanks. They include three verses from the Old Testament and three verses from the New Testament.

  1. 1 Chronicles 16:34
  2. 1 Timothy 1:17
  3. Psalm 100:4
  4. Philippians 4:6
  5. Isaiah 12:4
  6. Revelation 7:12

Encourage learners to use their BEST handwriting as they copy and Bible verses. {They could copy them using print, slant, or cursive, whatever level of handwriting they are working on.} More than that, encourage them to look these verses up in the Bible and read them in their FULL context so they can better understand what they mean.

Encourage them to give thanks to God as they are instructed to do in these verses. It truly is a good thing to give thanks to the Lord!

Happy Thanksgiving!
~Becky
