Smaller Sight Word Sentence Cards Tutorial

Our Sight Word Sentence Cards are a hugely popular subscriber freebie. I often get email requests to create smaller sight word sentence cards. I don’t have plans to create smaller ones {Boo!}, but I can show you how you can do it yourself {Yay!}.

Yes, YOU can print smaller sight word sentence cards yourself! It’s SUPER simple, too!

Smaller Sight Word Sentence Cards Tutorial

Printing smaller sight word sentence cards is something you can do right from your own printer. Just follow these simple steps!

Step 1. Pick thew sight word sentence card set you need. I’m going to demonstrated with our Level 1 cards. {Note: These same set of directions work for all the cards in our subscriber freebie library!

Step 2. Download the file and save it to your computer.

Step 3. Open up the file with Adobe Reader from your computer. It works best to do the next steps from the file you’ve downloaded to your computer. I do not recommend using the preview file. I also do not recommend any other application other than Adobe Reader to open it.

Step 4. Click “print” from Adobe Reader bar at the top. When you do, the print window will open up. {See the image above.}

Click "Multiple" to print smaller sight word sentence cards

Step 5. Click “Multiple.” The default setting, at least on my computer, is to print 4 pages onto one page, which puts 8 small cards on one page. That’s way too small in my opinion. To get the right size, just change the setting in the drop-down menu from “Custom” to “2.” {See the red asterisk in the image above.}

Step 6. Click “Print.” Once you have your settings just right, it’s time to print out your cards.

Step 7. Cut out your cards.

Step 8. Hole punch the top corner of your cards and use a 1-inch ring clip to make a flip book of sight words. This step is optional. I personally love how accessible and portable it makes the cards.

this tutorial also works for the other cards in our subscriber library
