Short Vowel Clip Cards
Once learners move past simple CVC words, sometimes those longer short vowel words can be tricky. These words can have blends/digraphs at the beginning or end {and sometimes even both}. This includes words like duck or crab. And that’s exactly what you’ll find in this pack!
Grab some plastic clothespins {easier to open} or wooden clothespins {harder to open} and you’re ready for kids to clip and learn! Print only one vowel or mix n’ match them.
Flip them over and write a happy face, star, or simple dot to make them self-checking for learners. {The bundle pack has this done for you! – See image above.}
This makes them great for independent learning, as learners can get feedback right away when they flip them over to check their answers.
You can extend the learning by asking kids to write the words they clip or even sort them in columns as they spell them. What a fun way to read and spell short vowel words!
The bundle pack has THREE levels of short vowel learning: 1- CVC words, 2-CCVC/CVCC words, 3-CCVCC words. They’re self-checking when you print front to back AND blackline clip cards are included for every level!
