Popcorn Poetry-A Poem about the Five Senses {This Reading Mama}

{photo credit}

In a recent study of the five senses, ALuv(currently 7) composed a poem using all five senses…popcorn poetry!  And it’s SUPER SIMPLE. First, we popped a bag of popcorn in the microwave, but you could most certainly make it the old fashioned way.  The reason I chose popcorn is that it uses all of the 5 senses!

Photo of Describe It with the 5 SensesAfter cooking and taste-testing, we used this graphic organizer (click on picture or HERE) to get his thoughts down.  What does popcorn look like, taste like, feel like, sound like, and smell like? Once we had brainstormed, he picked the final one he wanted to write about for each of the five senses in his popcorn poem.

The next day, we went over his sloppy copy, did some revisions and editing and he published his final draft.  He backed it onto red construction paper and added some Microsoft clip art to make it look “professional”.
