Another wondeful vendor I met at Teach Them Diligently this past May was Wendy of ShatterPoint Entertainment. When I stopped by, I noticed she had chairs set out with kids glued to the TV. I introduced myself and listened to her amazing story of how she used lego bricks in her homeschooling, especially with her son. She gave our family a copy of their newest DVD, Jericho: The Promise Fulfilled and the comic book companion.
Humor for Adults, Truth for Kids
Jericho {as well as past DVDs by ShatterPoint Entertainment} features the lego bricks in stop motion animation. The Jericho DVD shares the story of the collapse of Jericho found in Joshua 1-6. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the DVD with my oldest son {7.5 years old} in particular. There were multiple times he stopped to ask, “What’s so funny?” The humor is one that parents can enjoy while kids are learning the truth of God’s Word. What a great combination!
The Comic Book Companion
The comic book companion is VERY well done and includes devotional time in God’s Word. Here I could spend more time with my son, going over the story of God’s amazing love for His people.
My son really liked the how the comic book looked {at 40 pages long, we split up our reading over 2 or 3 days} and I enjoyed the sidenotes to parents as well as the background Scriptures that helped fill in the story and made it come to life even more! If your child knows the basic story of Jericho {but not most of the details}, you may find it helpful to read the comic book companion before watching the DVD to provide some extra background knowledge.
Do you have a child who would enjoy learning the truth of God’s Word in such a visual and funny way? Then you’ll be encouraged to know that ShatterPoint Entertainment is going to giveaway ONE DVD and ONE comic book to a reader! Yay! You must enter via the Rafflecopter widget below to be entered to win. Please note that the only mandatory entry is a comment on this blog post. All other entries are optional.
