Free Individual Calendar Pages
Last school year, I took our daily calendar area down to put up our number lines for rote counting. My 2nd and 3rd grader had their calendar concepts down last year so it wasn’t really needed for them anymore.
This year, I am realizing how much my 1st grader missed without the daily calendar time when she was in Kindergarten…even though we did calendar time religiously when she was in preschool. But I still didn’t want to dedicate an entire wall to a calendar.
So, I created an individual calendar page for her to work on with me everyday. To make it reusable, just slip into a dry erase pocket {I much prefer these over plastic sleeve protectors} and use a fine tip dry erase marker.
Each day, we talk about the month, and then she adds the date’s number to the calendar area.
At the bottom, we answer: The day is ______, The date is ______, Yesterday was _____, and Tomorrow will be _____.
Ways to Use this Page
Calendar math can be such an abstract concept, even beyond first grade. This makes a great tool to teach individual or small groups if the rest of your learners don’t need to review calendar math everyday.
If you do a whole group calendar time, you can still use this page. It can help learners pay attention as they have to do all the writing! Hehe. 🙂
