As I’m going through the prologue of John via video each day in my videos, one of the statements I made was that John includes things in his Gospel that Matthew, Mark, and Luke did not. One of those things John included are the “I Am” statements of Jesus Christ. In the book of John, Jesus made seven “I am” statements about Himself.

What are the seven “I am” statements of Jesus? I’m so glad you asked!

  1. In John 6:35, Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life. The one who comes to Me will never go hungry, and the one who believes in  Me will never be thirsty.”
  2. In John 8:12, Jesus said, “I am the Light of the World! The one who follows Me will never walk in darkness but  will have the light of life.”
  3. In John 10:7 & 9, Jesus said, “I am the Door for the sheep. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved and will come in and out and find pasture.”
  4. In John 10:11 & 14, Jesus said, “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.   I am the Good Shepherd. I know my own and my own know Me.”
  5. In John 11:25-26, Jesus said, “I am the Resurrection and the Life. The one who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and the one who lives and believes in me will never die.”
  6. In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
  7. In John 15:1 & 5, Jesus said, “I am the True Vine, and my Father is the Gardener. I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me – and I in him – bears much fruit, because apart from Me, you can accomplish nothing.”
