My 4 year old looks forward to our Cut it Out! Packs every month. She’s been doing them since last Thanksgiving and has grown in her scissor skills and abilities.
The cool thing about it is that last year, she used Level 1 (straight lines) in the packs. This week, she “graduated” to Level 3 (zigzag lines). So, if you have a young child who used these packs last year, he or she may be able to use them again, just on a harder level! Woohoo!

Prepare Cut it Out! Activities
To prep, you need to print off the level of cutting practice {Level 1: straight lines, Level 2: curved lines, Level 3: zigzag lines, and Level 4: shapes} you want for your child from the FREE download at the end of this post onto card stock.
Why card stock? It’s less flimsy, which equals less frustration as the child holds and cuts the paper.
Depending upon the extension activity you choose afterwards, you may need construction paper or sentence strips {for making patterns}, a glue stick, and scissors. Our favorite scissors hands-down are the Maped Koopy Spring Scissors, seen in the image above.
MBug was over the top excited to find out she was going to cut out pictures with the zigzag lines. 🙂
She cut along all the zigzag lines {8 fall images in total} and placed them in a pile. She matched each picture together again, like a puzzle, and then glued each “puzzle down” on construction paper.
