Editable Rainbow Roll & Write my Name

By thisreadingmama 16 Comments

Helping little ones learn how to write their own name is one of those important life skills. That’s what this Rainbow Roll & Write My Name page helps learners do. And it’s editable. This means you can customize it by typing in your learner’s name!

Editable Rainbow Roll & Write my Name

While my youngest {age 4} was signing her Valentine’s cards this year, I realized she needed a little more guided practice on writing her name. So, I quickly adapted the Rainbow Roll & Write Sight Word Pages I created for Reading the Alphabet and Learn to Read. Instead, I made it a Roll & Write my Name page just for her.

Then, I began thinking wouldn’t it be nice if YOU had something like this you could use with your little one(s), too? So, I made it editable. That’s right! Just follow the instructions within the download {pg. 3} to create your own editable Roll & Write my Name pages!

Once you’ve edited and printed your learner’s name, all you need is a die and some crayons or colored pencils. And it’s SO easy to play. Learners roll the die and then trace their name in the color corresponding with the number they rolled. Continue rolling and writing until they have a rainbow name!

If you’re interested, go ahead and hop over to Teachers Pay Teachers to download and save the free font that’s required to create these. {Be sure to stop by my shop while you’re there!}

1. Make sure that you have the most current version of Adobe Reader. It’s available here.

2. Open your file finder and right click (or double click) on the file in your download folder.

3. Choose OPEN WITH –> ADOBE READER.

4. You may be prompted to choose Adobe Reader as your PDF reader in the future. To avoid problems in the future, click YES.

Hey! I absolutely love this and I plan on using this with sight words for my Kindergartens. I was wondering if you knew how to increase the font for a Mac. I tried using the control + E but it didnt work. Do you have any tips? Thank you!

Try Command + E for Mac. Be sure you’ve downloaded it and open it up from the download on your computer with Adobe Reader.

Thanks for this. I have a couple of students who need just a little more practice with their names and this will be a new way for them to do it. Sometimes just a little change to the routine can make something seem new and interesting.

I have a mac. I downloaded both the font and your file. I opened it with Adobe Acrobat Reader. I can type a word, but I cannot change the font or the size of the font. Command e and Control e don’t fix it. I would love to use this but it’s not working for me! Thanks.

I am getting some other people to test it out for me too so I can tell you what to do. My Mac happens to be with Apple right now getting fixed. I hope to have it back by the end of this week. I’ll let you know when I figure something out.

Adobe Reader has no place on the tool bar to change the font or enlarge it.

Be certain you 1- are opening it with the most updated version of Adobe Reader and 2- that you have downloaded the file to your computer and are opening it from that saved file. See if either of those helps.

Thank you so much for all your hard work. This is really great. I have three (3) students who have no idea how to begin to write their name. I’ve been using tracing sheets, sand where they trace the letters, next is shaving cream. This will be a fun activity.

Thanks! This will be a fun way for the students to practice writing their name at the beginning of the school year. I’m thinking of printing & laminating one for each student to use with dry erase markers. It can be a daily practice without so many copies.

What program do I need to open the Rainbow Roll & Write My Name in in order to use the KG Primary Font? I downloaded and saved it to my computer but when I open it, the program opens in Microsoft Edge and I am not able to insert/use the KG Primary Font that I also downloaded and saved.

This will be a great center activity for the beginning of the school year!!

Wow! Not sure my response helps you now, considering I’m just now seeing your question in January! Yikes! It needs to be opened in Adobe Reader.
