Reading Comprehension Strategies Printable Pack
Below are the reading comprehension strategies covered in this pack. You can read more about each one in our Reading Comprehension Series.
- making connections
- predicting
- inferring
- visualizing
- questioning
- determining importance
- synthesizing
- & summarizing
For each comprehension strategy, you’ll find clear definitions that kids can understand in these different forms
Comprehension Wall Charts for each strategy– Included is a simple one and one that goes more in-depth. These would be great on the wall of a classroom or schoolroom or just to have on-hand when you’re teaching one specific strategy.
Single Page with all 8 strategies included – I don’t have a single shot of just this 1-page resource, but you can clearly see it in this photo. It contains the same information as the comprehension wall charts with the picture, all on one page. This would be perfect to include in a reading folder or near a reading area.
Reading Comprehension Book Marks– Reading=Thinking. On the bookmark, I have included 7 of the strategies to help kids as they are reading. I did not include summarizing {because it didn’t fit} and mostly because kids tend to do this after they read and it’s best to do with a buddy or teacher. The wall charts and single page all DO include summarizing.

Becky, thank you so much for creating such an awesome resource for reading! As a tutor, I constantly refer to it when I am modeling these strategies to my students as well as their parents. It has helped me confidently explain some of the harder strategies like Making Inferences 🙂
