Color the Chunk – Short i Word Families
The short i word family chunks included in this freebie are: -it, -ig, -ip, -in, -ill, and -ick.
As with our other color the chunk word family pages, there are two levels.
Level 1 asks learners to color the word family chunks, then read each word. Above the line are simple one-letter onsets. Below the line are harder words with blends and digraphs at the front.
Level 2 requires learners to not only color the word family chunks and read the words, but to decipher between the real and nonsense words.
*Note: -ill and -ick are NOT included in the Level 2 pages, as most onsets either created real words or very inappropriate words (according to the online Urban Dictionary) that I didn’t need to be included. (It really saddens me to see how people have taken innocent words and used them for evil.)
