Alphabet I Spy Pages
These fun “I SPY” can be a way to sneak in some handwriting, fine motor skills, and letter learning for both uppercase and lowercase letters.
Each page features the letter, a tracing activity, and objects on the page that start or end (as in the case of “x”) with the letter.
Learners go on an “I Spy” search with a magnifying glass to find and circle the featured letter in both uppercase and lowercase form.
Five lowercase letters and five uppercase letters are “hidden” on each page for the featured letter. Other letters that look like the featured letter are also hidden, so learners must be careful to circle only the correct uppercase and lowercase letters!
*Honestly, the letters are probably large enough that learners could try it without the magnifying glass, but the magnifying glass sure makes it more fun! I did try to make the letters even smaller, but they became hard to recognize, even with the magnifying glass.

3 Helpful Tips for Using the Alphabet I Spy Pages
- Encourage learners to trace the uppercase and lowercase letters BEFORE they search for the letters, as this is a multi-sensory activity that helps them “feel” the formation of the letters they are looking for.
- Talk about the pictures and emphasize the sound of each letter. For example, on the Bb page, say, “I see a /b/-/b/-bird. Bird starts with /b/. What are the other things on this page that start with /b/?” (Hint: /b/ = the SOUND of b, not the letter name.) Picture keys are included at the bottom right of each page.
- Place your pages in a dry erase pocket or plastic sleeve protector so they can be used multiple times.
Enjoy teaching!
