As a new year begins, I thought it would be fun to look back over last year and recount some of the most popular posts from 2012.  Some of these are popular in terms of number of views and others are some of my personal favorites.

1 January

Dressed for Snow Emergent Reader– This was my very first printable emergent reader.  I was so excited to be able to manipulate Microsoft clip art!  You can look for this to be a part of a Winter PreK Pack that I’m currently working on…due January 4!

2 February

Rhyme Time with The Cat in the Hat– I loved doing this FREE Rhyme Time Pack with my PreKinder.  And he had such an affection for The Cat in the Hat at that time, that it was enjoyable to make this unit and share with my readers.

3 March

NSis’ birth– The birth of my 4th child happened on the first day of March.  She has been such an added joy to our family.  At nearly 10 months, she is still VERY much laid back and goes with the flow.

4 April

Green Light, Red Light Print Awareness– Such a simple, yet effective way to help kids know where to start and stop reading.

5 May

Puzzle Racing Fun

Puzzle Racing Fun!– This was a top post of May and I loved the enthusiasm in which my then 3 year old took on the job of putting together this 1-20 number puzzle.  Move it!  Movie It! Move It!

6 June

roll a sentence activity

Roll-a-Sentence– This is a post that I literally had ready to trash.  I thought no one would really think that much of it, but it went VIRAL on me; thanks to Pinterest!

7 July

20 songs to integrate rhyme into your routine20 Songs to Add Rhyme to Your Routine– I loved combining my two loves: literacy and music in this post.

8 August

Reading the Alphabet, free preschool reading curriculum

Introduction of Reading the Alphabet– I was so excited to introduce this FREE PreK reading curriculum!  I have been amazed at the reach of it and how many moms and teachers have used it with all kinds of kids.  Exciting stuff!

9 September

Persuade the Pigeon-Persuasive Writing

Persuade the Pigeon; a Lesson in Persuasive Writing– This lesson was totally fun to do with my 1st grader (I think in was a whine-free lesson, which is rare) and was enjoyed by many readers and teachers of writing.

10 October

Teaching Spelling Through Word Study

Word Study series with iHomeschool Network– In October, I participated in a 10 day series called Teaching Spelling Through Word Study, which opened the door to many emails and conversations about teaching literacy, even with those children who are more reluctant.

11 November

My ABC's of Thanksgiving F Page

My ABC’s of Thanksgiving– Definitely another favorite of mine as well as a popular one to readers.  This one also went viral, thanks to the ladies of Kid Blogger Network!

12 December

photo of 50 Gift Ideas for Kids: No Batteries Required

50 Gifts for Kids: No Batteries Required– I created this one to go along with iHN’s 25 Days of Christmas.  Who doesn’t love the sturdy and battery-free toys that HearthSong or Melissa and Doug makes?  Yeah, I’ll be referring to this one quite often for my own kids…and not just for Christmas gifts. 🙂

Looking Ahead…

photo of The ABCs of...KBN Series {January 7-11, 2013}I already know one of my favorites for January will be the 5 day series called The ABC’s of Learning Toys and Manipulatives with the 60+ other bloggers from Kid Blogger Network.  Click on the image above to read more!

Thank you to all my readers for an encouraging 2012!  I can’t wait to see what 2013 has in store!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

~Becky
