The Sacrifice of our Savior in the Old Testament

In His sovereignty, God purposely placed Exodus and Leviticus in the Bible. I’m sure you’d agree with a hardy, “Amen!”

But what if I told you that God also filled these chapters {we’re so tempted to skim or skip} with pictures, types, and shadows of the ultimate sacrifice of our Savior? From the beginning, God desired to point us to our greatest need, and that is a Perfect and Permanent Sacrifice to wash away our sin…forever. {Hebrews 7:27}

Both Colossians 2 and Hebrews 8 specifically use the word shadows. Another word for shadows is types, with the study of types of Jesus in the Old Testament called typology.
